HEATHER LAKE
Soprano | Singing Actor

ABOUT HEATHER LAKE
Heather, though a newcomer to the world of singing, has captivated audiences in both New York and Arizona with her diverse repertoire spanning from contemporary opera to 70's psychedelic rock, musical theater, Baroque, solo choral and concert works.
In the 2023-2024 season, Heather embarked on a dynamic journey by founding the Lyric Arts Collective, a recital group showcasing art songs, opera, and musical theatre duets for local audiences through platforms like Groupmuse and local mini theaters. This season also marked her solo debut at Carnegie Hall with the Oratorio Society of New York, conducted by the esteemed Kent Tritle. Additionally, she is set to record Mahler’s fourth symphony with the Village Evereign Ensemble.
Her past engagements include contributing to Lincoln Center’s choral premier "Search for Spring" by Jonathon Dove, and being featured as a soloist for the Shrine of the Ages Alumni Choir's Ireland tour "Songs of the Emerald Isle," under the direction of Edith Copley. Heather's musical journey includes being the soprano scholar and soloist for the Amherst Early Music Festival, alongside acclaimed conductor Kent Tritle, and regular performances with the Oratorio Society of New York. She also rejoined the Amici Company’s last season, showcasing musical and operatic theater for unique and intimate audiences.
Heather's operatic experience is rich, with notable roles in productions such as Gounod's "Romeo et Juliette" (Juliette), Viardot's "Cendrillon" (La fée), and Robert Ward's "The Crucible" (Abigail Williams), all while pursuing her MM at the Manhattan School of Music. During her time at Northern Arizona University, she portrayed characters in operas like "Die Zauberflöte" (Queen of the Night), "Pirates of Penzance" (Mabel), and Britten’s "Albert Herring" (Mrs. Wordsworth).
As a dedicated ensemble singer, Heather's musicality stems from her training in classical violin, allowing her to integrate her past string knowledge into her vocal performances. She has a passion for contemporary music and has collaborated with living composers, premiering works by Judith Cloud, Alexandros Darna, Struck Yi, and Jonathan Dove.
Heather has been recognized for her talent and dedication, winning awards such as the Opera Singer of Promise Award 2018 at NAU, the NSAL award in 2018, the NATS Advanced College Independent Student award in 2018, and the Prescott Chorale’s Young Artist competition in 2018.
Through her vocal journey, Heather has overcome vocal trauma and now aims to inspire students to embrace every aspect of their voice through meaningful practice and healthy vocal techniques. She currently serves as vocal faculty for the Virtual Dustin Kaufman Music School and runs her private vocal studio.
